Chinese Joss House Museum

The museum is housed in a reproduction of the Joss House, a place of worship for the Chinese in the area from the 1894 through the early 1920s. Exhibits address the Chinese in Evanston from 1870–1939. Collections include artifacts from Chinatown Archaeological Digs, private Chinese collections (dates varying), historical photographs, pottery, books, paintings, and other Chinese items. Open Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. in winter, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. in summer. Admission is free, donations are gratefully accepted.
