A ride on this Ferris wheel will give the rider a beautiful view of the Big Horn Mountains and the Cloud Peak Wilderness area. This 195,000 acre wilderness area and Cloud Peak (elevation 13,165) are directly in front of the Ferris wheel.
The Ferris wheel gets its name from George Washington Ferris who designed a 250 foot wheel for the Columbian Exposition in Chicago in 1892. This Eli #16 wheel was built in 1936 by the Eli Bridge Co. of Jacksonville, Illinois. It is serial number 547 and originally ran at the Utah State Fair. It moved to Heritage Square, Golden Colorado in 1978 and ran there for twelve years. It has been totally reconditioned and now operates daily during the summer months.
